I wonder what the next few years will hold for reconciling racing's 'need to entertain' and its pertinence to the real world. The next twenty to thirty years could see more change than any of us can comprehend, and some of it could be painful. Racing needs to lead and reflect that change to have any chance of growth, much less survival or, dare I say, morality given the challenges we face as a people.
Ganassi spoke eloquently about this. IMSA is at least trying, although I don't really see how ACO is serious about it.
How do those in the racing community see the racing world's role twenty or thirty years out, and what do the various sanctioning bodies do in the next two or three to get there? Are the rather restrictive (dare I say WSC-like) 2011 ACO rules a step in the right direction? What about F1's abandonment of KERS?
If you were International Dictator of Racing for Life and Beyond, what series would you start? What would the goals of the series be, and how would you tailor a simple and elegant ruleset to support that? How do you reconcile the seeming need for wheel-to-wheel racin' versus what would likely be very large margins of victory with an open rulebook? Is live TV even a good idea in that case, or would it actually be a more fertile ground for reality-type programming to run in weekday primetime?
Am I giving away all the secrets? Those in the racing community and in fandom, I encourage you to comment.

This is the beginning
I'm late for most things. Blogging is not the first or the last of those things.
This is my 'Hello World' for now.
